The smooth lavender watercolor wash on all its petals is overlain by brushstrokes of burgundy-purple coming from the center of this almost-pastel dahlia. The very thin picotee dark purple edging of each petal is extraordinarily delicate, rewarding close inspection. The centers and bud are a darker lavender with white tips that look spectacular on their own. If allowed to open completely, a delightful dark yellow-orange fertile core snuggles surrounded by the darkest magenta ring. A paradoxical combination of subtle petal coloring and very striking contrasting core make this an especially fascinating dahlia.
